ACUPUNCTURE THERAPY

Does acupuncture work? You bet your tush it does.

Acupuncture is a type of traditional Chinese medicine that promotes healing in the body. It is performed by inserting thin, single use acupuncture needles into different areas of the body, based on your practitioner's diagnosis of imbalances in your energetic flow.

Our Acupuncture Offerings

  • A standard session consists of 45 minutes of healing and at least one pun and/or mom joke.

  • 90 minutes with your practitioner: starting with a consultation and followed by your first treatment. Includes facial cupping, microcurrent, Celluma light therapy, and face and body acupuncture.

  • A standard session is approximately 30 minutes long. We will apply essential oils on our fingers and apply them to the points. No needles at all.

How does acupuncture work?

The body's Qi, or life force energy, flows through a series of energetic channels or meridians which acupuncture needles access and manipulate, using points along
those channels.

Visualize the anatomy of a human body similar to a New York City subway map. The meridians are like the subway lines and the points are like the station stops. The meridians interact with one another through common areas they pass through, like subway tunnels. When a train is stuck in a station, it holds up trains all over the line causing trouble throughout the system, right?

It is the same way with the body. When there is an accumulation of qi (stopped train), or a deficiency of qi (no train), or an excess of qi (too many trains too close together) the system doesn’t function well and passengers get mad.

The acupuncture needles, essential oils, cups, and other therapies are the mechanics who work to keep the system functioning and the trains moving appropriately. We work to maintain a smooth flow of qi because when the qi is flowing smoothly, the body is working like a well maintained subway system.

If you’re looking for some acupuncture science…

Central nervous system stimulation is believed to occur when acupuncture points are stimulated. Consequently, chemicals are released into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These biochemical changes are believed to stimulate the body's natural healing abilities, promoting physical and emotional wellbeing.

Not into needles? Try AcuPatching™

Acupatching™ stimulates acupoints using Light Therapy patches, also known as “Phototherapy” patches. They are worn on the skin, on acupuncture points, for up to 24 hours, depending on the patching plan we create together. The patches work to improve your body's function, much like acupuncture needles.

  • AcuPatching™ combines acupuncture point stimulation with phototherapy in a powerful “fix it and forget it” treatment that you can wear home from the office or do on your own at home. This treatment is ideal for patients who might want to skip the needles.

While you wear the patches, they use your body's own energy to create biochemical changes, much like sunlight stimulating your body to make Vitamin D. The biochemical changes improve cellular function, and can improve sleep, lower stress response, reduce inflammation, improve energy and focus, decrease pain, and help you travel Back to the Future. (No. Not that last one. But what a great movie, right?) There is nothing on the patch that is entering the body. The patch and the acupuncture point work to stimulate your body's inherent healing abilities, which equals increased wellness overall.
